Amy Dx singing at the Big Difference in Leicester

Biography

Amy's songwriting reveals narrative tendencies with hidden personal motives, supported by dark and haunting melodies. The band fuels her soaring and powerful vocals while creating a perfect blend for the delicate and subdued moments. Although inspired by 90’s rock and grunge bands, her music is often perceived as alternative rock, often compared to PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Alanis and Cranberries. While currently working on her second album, Amy is excited to share some brand-new material during her live performances this year. She has been nominated two years in row for 'Best Solo Act' by Radio Wigwam and this year with an added nomination of ‘Best Song’. Her new releases from album two have enjoyed early praise and airplay on BBC Introducing.

'I wanted to is a brilliant new track by Amy Dx, remarkable! Incredible vocals'
Dean Jackson, BBC Introducing radio show
'A funk inspired bassline of "Crossroads" sets the mood and makes a statement right away. The bass enters with a throbbing, joyful groove, a sort of low-end heartbeat that simultaneously grounds the song and gives it a sense of binary opposition which then gives an unexpected lift.'
Radio Wigwam's Track Of The Week
'A mix between Alanis, The Cranberries and PJ Harvey, her debut album received much praise from fellow artists and local press.'
Cool As Leicester, feature of the week
'Amy is clearly not afraid to tackle difficult and important subjects and writing on strong and emotive matters is a strong theme throughout her work as evidenced on her debut single Worth'
Leicestermusicblog
'Amy's song resembles Celtic vocals like Dolores O'Riordan with predominantly piano lead songs and sweet harmonies'
We Want Woman CIC, Liverpool
'She is the kind of artist who does not seem to be afraid of putting herself completely out there, both on a personal/lyrical level and on a performative level.'
